On February 28, 1986, the teen romantic comedy “Pretty in Pink” was released. The film, written by John Hughes, starred Molly Ringwald as she dealt with love and social cliques while navigating high school. The film itself has become a cult hit, as well a pop culture stable when it comes to classic high school films, and is often referenced when discussing 80’s movies that defined that decade.
The film also sparked the hit song “If You Leave” by Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark, which peaked at number four on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
