The album has been labeled as Jackson’s best work due to its socially conscious lyrics, as well as regarded as one of the greatest albums of all time (Rolling Stone – “The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time”). In addition, the title track “Rhythm Nation,” has been hailed as a quintessential R&B track, laying the foundation for future R&B music. Furthermore, the album attained nine Grammy Award nominations (winning one), as well as had seven of its singles peaking within the top five on the Billboard Hot 100 chart — the first album and artist to achieve such a feat.
