The actor is best known for playing the titular character Dawson Leary on “Dawson’s Creek.” The teen drama series, which debuted in the late 90s, made Van Der Beek a teen idol, alongside his cast mates Katie Holmes, Joshua Jackson, and Michelle Williams.
Cementing his status as a teen idol, Van Der Beek starred in the 1999 football coming-of-age film “Varsity Blues,” which was a box office success, and has since attained a cult following. In addition, Van Der Beek has had recurring roles on “How I Met Your Mother” and “One Tree Hill,” and is slated to star in the 2015 drama “CSI: Cyper,” which is part of the popular “CSI” franchise. In 2015, Van Der Beek starred in the short film “Power/Rangers” based on the “Power Rangers” franchise. The film was critically acclaimed and directed by famed music video director Joseph Kahn.
