On March 31, 1995 Tejano star Selena Quintanilla was killed via gun shot by her fan club president, Yolanda Saldívar.
At the time of her death, Selena’s momentum was strong, having won a Grammy, as well as having a string of hit songs under her belt. Selena’s final album, “Dreaming of You,” topped the Billboard 200 chart, as well as an array of Latin charts, selling over 2 million copies. Since her death, Selena’s music remains popular, and as a person, has become a pop culture icon.
