The magazine, which features photographs of nude women (from models to celebrities) as well as various journalism articles, was founded in Chicago by Hugh Hefner after receiving a $1,000 loan from his mother. It is noted for its Playboy Playmates, a model representing a specific month, which ultimately would lead to a Playmate of the Year. In addition, the magazine features interviews from prominent directors, actors, politicians, and the likes.
