On October 5 the novel “Twilight” was released…

Today on October 5, 2005 the book that started the Twilight phenomena and gave birth to Twihards, “Twilight,” was released. The young-adult novel, the first of four (collectively known as the “Twilight series), written by Stephenie Meyer, introduces the world to Isabella Swan (aka Bella) as she begins her love affair with vampire Edward Cullen once she moves from Phoenix, Arizona to Forks, Washington.

The novel itself has reached the top spot on the “New York Times Best Seller List,” and was followed by “New Moon,” “Eclipse,” and “Breaking Dawn.” In November of 2008 a film adaption was released, grossing more than $392 million worldwide.
