On December 15, 1992 “The Chronic” by Dr. Dre was released.

The album marked Dr. Dre’s first foray as a solo artist after leaving the hip-hop group N.W.A, and featured Snoop Dogg on various songs (the album was used to launch Snoop Dogg’s career). The album went on to be certified triple platinum, as well as credited in popularizing gangsta rap. In addition, the album has been labeled as one of the best albums of 90s, and ranked number 138 on Rolling Stone magazine’s list of  the “500 Greatest Albums of All Time.”
