On January 28 Stevie Wonder released “My Cherie Amour”…

On January 28, 1969 Stevie Wonder released his top-ten-hit “My Cherie Amour.” The song was originally titled, “Oh My Marsha,” after Stevie Wonder’s girlfriend while he was at the Michigan School for the Blind. Soon after they broke up, Stevie altered the song to “My Cherie Amour” in order to make it more generalized. The song was originally recorded in 1968, but Motown Records released it in 1969. Ultimately, the song became a signature hit for Stevie Wonder, reaching the top ten on the Billboard charts.
