On February 1, 1961 “The Misfits” was released. The film, written by Arthur Miller and directed by John Huston, starred both Hollywood superstars Marilyn Monroe and Clark Gable.

“The Misfits” proved to be the last film appearance by both Monroe and Gable. Gable suffered a heart attack after filming ended, and died within two weeks. Monroe soon died a year and half later of an apparent drug overdose.

While the film was initially not a box office office success, it was commercially successful through DVD sales in the modern area. The film was received positively in terms of screen play and performances, earning Monroe a Golden Globe award in 1962.
