She is best known as a founding member of the 1960’s girl group, The Supremes, as well as her distinguished solo career. As part of The Supremes, Ross amassed a total of 12 number-one singles, becoming Motown’s most successful musical act to date, as well as the most successful vocal group ever. Some of their hit singles include but not limited to: “Baby Love,” “Come See About Me,” “Stop! In The Name of Love,” and “Someday We’ll Be Together.” As a solo artist, Ross’ (arguably) signature song has been “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough.”

In 1988, Ross was inducted, alongside The Supremes (Florence Ballard and Mary Wilson), into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. With the combined sales of her solo career, as well as with The Supremes, Ross has sold over 100 million records worldwide, and achieved 70 hit singles.

Random Pop Culture Fact: The 2006 film, “Dreamgirls,” starring Beyonce Knowles and Jennifer Hudson, is inspired by The Supremes and their time at the record label Motown.
