The single, taken from Eminem’s third album, “The Marshall Mathers LP,” was used by Eminem to critique the manufactured pop stars and songs (according to his views) that were popular at the time of the single’s release, as well as various social causes that were in the limelight (e.g. Eminem rapping about his disgust to gay marriage).

The single, as well as video, gained infamy due to Eminem’s insults at various celebrities who were relevant at the time of the single’s released. The single insults pop acts such as Britney Spears, Will Smith, ‘NSYNC, and particularly Christina Aguilera. The so-called Christina Aguilera vs Eminem feud was fueled even more with the single, in which Eminem rapped, “Shit, Christina Aguilera, better switch me chairs/so I can sit next to Carson Daly and Fred Durst/and hear ’em argue over who she gave head to first,” while continuing to call her a “little bitch,” and insinuate she had a sexual disease.

His insults were in reference of the rumors that Aguilera had a romance with Total Request Live (TRL) host Carson Daly, as well as with Limp Bizkit front man, Fred Durst. These are allegations that Aguilera has denied.
