In addition to Tyler Posey starring as Scott McCall, the show is noted for introducing mythological / supernatural creatures that are not so prevalent in pop culture. For instance, Lydia Martin, played by Holland Roden, originally was depicted as an archetypal “mean girl” with genius-level intellect, only for it to be discovered she is a banshee – commonly referred to as supernatural creatures who are omens of death. The show also dives into the mythology surrounding druids, skinwalkers, Beast of Gévaudan, and werewolf hunters.
