On December 16, 1949 William Frederick “Billy” Gibbons of ZZ Top was born. He is best known as the lead guitarist of the American rock band ZZ Top, as well as his trademark beard. Gibbons helped form ZZ Top in 1969.

Random Pop Culture Fact #1: Jeana Keough, one of the original cast members of “The Real Housewives of Orange County,” appears as one of the three muses in ZZ Top’s video for “Sharp Dressed Man,” as well as a couple of other ZZ Top videos.

Random Pop Culture Fact #2: In the beginning of his career, Gibbons struck up a friendship with Jimi Hendrix. Hendrix, impressed with Gibbons’ guitar skills, went on to say in an appearance on “The Tonight Show” that Gibbons will be the next hottest guitarist in music. To date, Gibbons has had a career in music for over 40 years.
