On December 18, 1980 Christina Aguilera was born. She is a six-time Grammy award winning singer, songwriter, actress, and record producer.

Aguilera’s career started when she first appeared on “Star Search,” placing second place. She then was cast in “The All New Mickey Mouse Club” from 1992-1994 alongside Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, and Ryan Gosling.

She came into prominence by recording “Reflection,” the main song from the 1998 Disney film “Mulan,” which earned her a Golden Globe nomination.

Following the success of “Reflection,” she was able to secure a record deal with RCA, and soon released her official debut single, “Genie in a Bottle” on June 22, 1999. The single was a massive success and topped the Billboard 100 charts for five consecutive weeks and sold over seven million copies, making it one of the biggest selling singles of all time. She soon released her self-titled debut album on August 24, 1999, “Christina Aguilera,” which debuted at the number-one spot on the Billboard 200, selling over 17 million copies worldwide. The album itself spawned four top ten singles, “Genie in a Bottle,” “What A Girl Wants,” “I Turn To You,” and “Come On Over (All I Want Is You).” Three out of the four singles became number-one hits, topping the Billboard 100, with “I Turn To You” peaking at number three.

After her debut album was released, Aguilera was nominated for two Grammys at the 2000 Grammy Awards, in which she won the 2000 Grammy for Best New Artist, her first Grammy.

She gained more notoriety and popularity by appearing in the 2001 re-recording of “Lady Marmalade,” which reached the number-one spot on the Billboard 100 and earned her another Grammy.

Soon afterwards she began to shed the “squeaky clean image” of that of a pop star by taking a more mature approach with her music and look. This was seen with various photo shoots (e.g. Rolling Stone), as well as seen through the release of her 2002 album, “Stripped,” which included the hit singles “Dirrty” and “Beautiful.” She followed up “Stripped” with 2006’s “Back to Basics,” 2010’s “Bionic”, and 2012’s “Lotus.”

One of Christina Aguilera’s biggest and most signature hits is 2002’s “Beautiful,” the second single released from “Stripped.”

She also took part in the 2003 infamous performance of “Like A Virgin” alongside Madonna and Britney Spears at the MTV Video Music Awards, which is known for the famous kiss Madonna shared with Britney Spears and Aguilera.

In 2011 she began a stint as a coach on “The Voice” on NBC. “The Voice” has been a massive success, constantly ranking number one in its time slot, averaging 15 million viewers a week. “The Voice” has won various awards, including the 2013 prime time Emmy for Outstanding Reality-Competition Program.

Christina Aguilera has often been named a pop icon, often referred to as the “Voice of a Generation.” She is a multiple Grammy award-winning artist, as well as the recipient of various other awards. Besides having a career in the entertainment industry, Christina Aguilera is heavily involved in various charitable activities focusing on human rights and world issues. She is an UN ambassador for the World Food Programme.

In 2013 and 2014, Aguilera scored two top ten singles, “Feel This Moment” with Pitbull, and “Say Something” alongside A Great Big World. She also contributed to the soundtrack for “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire,” recording the ballad “We Remain,” was featured on Lady Gaga’s remix of “Do What You Want,” as well as being named one of the 100 Most Influential People in the World by TIME magazine.

2014’s “Say Something” by the indie pop band A Great Big World featuring Christina Aguilera received both critical acclaim and commercial success. It peaked at number four on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and eventually sold over four million copies within the United States. Furthermore, in 2015 at the 57 annual Grammy Awards, the song won A Great Big World and Aguilera the Grammy Award for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance.
