On January 6, 1973 “You’re So Vain” by Grammy Award and Academy Award-winning artist Carly Simon started a three-week run on top of the US Billboard charts.

The legendary hit single by Carly Simon is about a self-absorbed ex-lover, who until this day Carly Simon hasn’t released the name of. There has been speculation of who it may be, from Mick Jagger, David Bowie, David Cassidy, Cat Stevens, to the number-one choice many have speculated, Warren Beatty. In a 2004 interview with Regis Philbin, she did give clues of who the person may be, by giving out letters of the person’s name. She has stated that the person’s name includes the letters “A,” “E,” and “R.”
